Traditional Thai Massage and Ashiatsu

My name is Susan, and currently I offer traditional Thai Yoga Massage and Ashiatsu as preventative and holistic (meaning physical, psychological, spiritual, social, and environmental aspects are all considered when working toward health) self care.

All of my work is performed with the client fully clothed, and without oils, except perhaps a small amount for hand, feet, or face massages.

About Susan

When I received my first Thai massage, I was deeply affected by it’s depth, variety, and elegance.  Studying yoga, breathing and muscle relaxation, meditation and Buddhism, I felt Traditional Thai Massage was work that brought these various arts under one holistic umbrella.

I earned a degree in mechanical engineering to understand cars. However, after receiving, then studying Traditional Thai massage at the Sunshine School in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and getting certified in acupressure at the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley, California, often I am just as interested in the mechanics of the human body and spirit as I am by the beautiful ’67 Camero that just zoomed by.

Everyone is unique.  We all are affected by mental habits, physical tension, emotional trauma, and injury differently.  I work not on, but with my clients to seek to find physical and mental relief in the form of release encouraged by movement, breathing, awareness, and relaxation which can often enable clients to slow down, see and solve challenges in their lives, tune-up the body, and bring mental and physical activity into balance.

I hope to see you soon, and may you be safe, healthy, joyful, and may the coming and going of things in your life be accepted with grace.

Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It’s administered by laying on hands.  When receiving Reiki you may feel a release a of blocked energy, heat or a “vibration” of energy.  The relaxation is similar if not more profound than that found during a yoga nidra session, or that feeling you get while laying in Savasana at the end of your favorite yoga class.  Some say it is even more relaxing than a massage.  You can read more about the Reiki tradition here: http://www.reiki.org/FAQ/WhatIsReiki.html

We have a private room at OneTree Yoga just for your Reiki experience with us.  We also have several practitioners available by choice.
